NTT Global Data Centers is developing a large data center campus in Itasca near Pierce Road and Arlington Heights Road. The campus is being built to support the digital systems that power cloud computing and the technology people rely on every day, including online services, business operations, healthcare records, and government systems.
The NTT campus has been developed over multiple phases. The first data center building, CH1, opened in 2019. A second building, CH2, followed in 2023. Construction of a third facility, CH3, is scheduled for completion in 2026. When the campus is fully built out, it is planned to include four data center buildings along with an electric substation serving the site, all located on approximately 35 acres.
NTT is the third largest data center provider in the world and the eighth largest in the United States, operating more than 160 data centers across over 20 countries and regions.
