Melissa Christensen

Melissa Christensen

Term: 2025 to 2029

Melissa Christensen has called Itasca home since 2019 and brings a strong mix of technical expertise, leadership experience, and community involvement to the Village Board. She recently made a career change after more than 25 years as an Executive Director and IT Manager and now works as a Software Support Engineer. She also co-owns Christensen Communications with her husband, a local low-voltage telecommunications company that specializes in cabling, phone systems, and security cameras.

Melissa became active in the community shortly after moving to town. She served as President of the Parent-Teacher League and founded Itasca Sprinkle with Love and Care, a kindness initiative that is in the process of becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. She is also a member of the Lions Club and serves as Entertainment Chairperson on the Member Activities Board at the Itasca Country Club.

She was inspired to run for the Village Board as a way to represent the voices of residents and support Itasca's continued growth. Melissa is focused on improving public services, enhancing recreational spaces, and strengthening local support for education, healthcare, and economic development. Her vision for Itasca centers on honoring the village's character while embracing new opportunities - what she describes as "something old and something new."

Melissa and her husband have four children and two grandsons. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, playing with her grandsons, going to Cubs and Hawks games, trying out new restaurants, boating at their lake house in Michigan, and traveling.
