On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, the Contractor will be excavating at both locations, to perform the abandonment. Northbound traffic on Walnut Street between Irving Park Road and Orchard Street will be open with flaggers directing traffic, during work hours of 9 am to 3 pm. On Wednesday, June 22, 2022 through Friday, June 24, 2022, during work hours of 9 am to 3 pm, westbound Irving Park Road will be diverted around the work area in Irving Park Road and northbound Walnut Street right turn traffic, south of Irving Park Road, will be detoured to Irving Park Road via Line Street.

On Tuesday June 21, 2022, there will be flaggers directing traffic on Northbound N. Walnut Street between Irving Park Road and Orchard Street.

Later this week, the surface course will be removed on Walnut Street between the railroad and Center Street and Walnut Street intersections with North Street, Division Street and Center Street, using flaggers to control traffic. The surface course is expected to be placed in July after other work is completed, so as not to mar the surface of the new asphalt. Brick pavers are being installed on N. Walnut Street sidewalk and the corners at the crosswalks are expected to be in restoration the week of June 27, 2022. Please note these dates are subject to change based on weather conditions or unexpected delays. We ask for your full understanding and cooperation during construction, and look forward to an improved roadway, storm sewer and water main system.
