Village is Seeking a Full-Time Summer Clerk

The Village of Itasca seeks a motivated, detail oriented, professional team player to fill the position of Full-Time Summer Clerk.

This is a temporary position expected to last minimally through the summer. Emphasis on Community Development and Front Counter Customer Service work. Applicants should excel in working with the public, maintaining confidentiality, and possess strong computer skills including confidence with Microsoft Office programs. The successful candidate will be able to work independently, keep work and time organized, and have excellent follow-through and communication skills.

Essential duties:

  1. Be the positive, welcoming face of the Village for incoming persons
  2. Work closely with the Permit Technician to complete permit tasks. Work is detail oriented requiring focus, follow-through, and accuracy
  3. Accurately utilize the Village permit tracking software and checklists to process building permits, inspections, and bonds
  4. Promptly and courteously answer the telephone; responding to questions and forwarding calls to appropriate Village staff; receives and processes mail
  5. Serve as Village cashier while following cash handling procedures
  6. Routine work such as filing, scanning, copying, completing reports, or creating schedules
  7. Assist staff with projects
  8. Work in a safe manner, following all Village standards

High school diploma or GED with two-years’ experience in forward facing customer service. Preference given to those with cash handling and payments processing; data entry using Microsoft Office or permit software.

Work hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. at Itasca Village Hall, 550 W. Irving Park Road

The successful candidate will be expected to pass a drug/alcohol screening, physical and background check upon offer of employment.
