Several years ago, Itasca citizens approved municipal electrical aggregation through a voter referendum.
This allowed the Village of Itasca to bundle together residential and small commercial retail electric accounts and seek proposals in an effort to create a better value for Itasca customers. This year when the Village went to bundle electrical service, it received rates equal to or higher than the ComEd rate. The Village chose to renew our electrical aggregation program for one (1) year with Chicago-based MC Squared Energy Services (MC2). All ratepayers under the program will be charged exactly the ComEd rate and the Village will receive a Civic Contribution at zero added cost. The Village Board chose to aside the Civic Contribution for future burial of overhead utility lines along Irving Park Road.
Notices were recently mailed to residents and small businesses. Depending on your electrical usage patterns, some customers have been moved back to ComEd, while others will receive electrical supply from MC2, BUT net effect for ALL customers is identical: every customer will pay the ComEd rate with no risk of ever paying more!
