Safety is a priority, so the Village recommends the following guidelines to ensure a spooktacular and safe Halloween for all:
🎃 Keep those hands clean: Before and after trick-or-treating, wash your hands, and bring hand sanitizer for use during the outing.
🎃 Healthy habits: Stay home if you’re feeling under the weather to protect yourself and others. • Shining bright: Make costumes and treat bags stand out with reflective tape or stickers and opt for light colors if possible.
🎃 Stay connected and vigilant: Carry a cell phone or partner up with someone who has one for easy communication.
🎃 Plan your path: Choose a safe route, avoiding alleys, unlit areas, and backyards.
🎃 Be cautious of vehicles turning or backing up as you navigate the streets. Always remember to establish eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of them.
👻 Eerie etiquette: If participating in trick-or-treating, illuminate your home by turning ON the front porch/outdoor lights. Conversely, turn OFF lights if you won’t be handing out candy.
👻 Health first: Refrain from handing out treats if you feel unwell.
👻 Clear the way: Remove any objects that could cause trips or slips from walkways and patios.
