Posted on: March 20, 2023

[ARCHIVED] Construction Update – 2023 Roadway & Infrastructure Improvements – Phase 2 - Week of March 27, 2023

The Contractor will grind the roadway for the storm sewer trench along N. Maple Street between Center Street and North Street; and W. Center Street between Catalpa Avenue and Maple Street. After grinding, the roadway will be compacted. The grinding and compacting is expected to be complete on N. Elm Street, N. Maple Street and W. Center Street by Friday, March 24th, weather permitting. Traffic will remain open and flaggers will direct traffic as necessary.

The Contractor will be video recording the interior of the sanitary sewer main and connected house sanitary sewer services on N. Maple Street between Center Street and North Street; and W. Center Street between Catalpa Avenue and Maple Street on Friday and Saturday, March 24th and 25th. We ask that you not park near nor on any manholes. No impact is expected to any house sanitary sewer services, but if a condition exists that may impact your sewer service momentarily, you will be notified prior.

Beginning Monday, March 27th, while Peacock School is not in session, the construction of a new sanitary sewer will begin at the intersection of North Street and Elm Street, proceeding north to Bryn Mawr Avenue. Concurrently, storm sewers will be installed on N. Maple Street beginning at Center Street and proceeding north to North Street and on W. Center Street from N. Maple Street to approximately 300 feet west of Willow Street. The sewer installations are scheduled to be completed in approximately three weeks. Work is expected to occur between 7 am and 4:30 pm. Through traffic will be detoured around the work areas. Please see the attached detours that will be in place during work hours. One lane of traffic will be open to local traffic with flaggers. We thank you for your patience. During this work expect the following:

  • All roads will be open to emergency vehicles
  • Access to driveways may be briefly interrupted
  • Workers will inform residents of driveway interruption prior to its occurrence
  • Temporary truck staging is expected on roadways and adjacent streets
