Leaf Pick-Up Coming to a Close for the Season

If you still have leaves laying around your yard, you may want to get busy with a rake. That's because the last scheduled leaf pick-up in the Village is Monday, November 30th.

Yard Waste must be placed in biodegradable paper bags or a reusable container no larger than 34 gallons clearly marked “Yard Waste” weighing a maximum of 50 pounds. More on the Village's yard waste collection can be found here

Alternatively, residents can dispose of yard waste by:

  • Starting a compost pile or adding leaves to an existing one. Composted leaves and other organic materials are an excellent resource for fertilizing your garden in the summer months. It provides necessary nutrients, while also reducing the need for chemical fertilizers.
  • Using a mulching mower, which will chop leaves into small pieces that will decompose directly on lawns. The leaf pieces can also be collected and spread around flowerbeds and shrubs as mulch.
  • If recycling leaves on your property is not an option, residents may bring leaves to DuPage Yard Waste (1195 W. Washington St., West Chicago) for a fee.
