Citizen Police Academy Goal
The goal of our Citizen Police Academy is to create a safer community through enhanced communication and partnerships between the citizens and the police through education. When residents take a more personal interest in their village and the protection of their community, they enjoy a safer and closer relationship with their neighbors.

Community oriented policing plays an important and vital role in reducing crime in the Village of Itasca. The Itasca Police Department instituted the Citizen Police Academy, to improve communication and problem solving and obtain input and support throughout the village. It is our hope that the graduates become partners with us in identifying issues that affecting our community. Graduates take their knowledge back into their neighborhoods where they can use it to enhance the quality of life in our village.
